Turkey & Syria Fundraising Initiative

The February 6, 2023 earthquake that struck the border of Turkey and NW Syria was one of the biggest disasters to impact the region in recent times. Thousands of buildings collapsed, and schools and hospitals were destroyed (United Nations). The natural disaster compounded the suffering of Syrians as the epicenter of a 12-year geopolitical civil conflict that has resulted in a refugee crisis, with hundreds of thousands dead and millions more displaced since the conflict started (Council of Foreign Relations).

Friendships Beyond Borders was able to contribute 20% towards a grassroots fundraiser to provide cash assistance to on the ground relief and medical workers.
